Get Show-Ready: Attend NEBS’s May 2025 Workshop Ahead of the Logan Shield
The North East Budgerigar Society (NEBS) invites all South Australian budgerigar fanciers to a hands-on, pre-Logan Shield workshop as part of its May 2025 meeting—held Tuesday, May 14 2025 at 7:30 p.m. at the Hectorville Community Centre.
Open to members of any South Australian club, this practical evening is your chance to fine-tune your team before the Logan Shield selection show just five days later. Whether you’re an open exhibitor or preparing your first State team entry, this session will help ensure your birds are presented in top form.
You’ll receive direct support from some of SA’s most experienced bird carers and open breeders, including former BCSA bird carer Ian Marshall and current carer Troy Holmes. Bring along your birds—ideally one per show cage—and these seasoned handlers will assist with grooming, head cleaning, applying baby oil to beaks and feet, and cage presentation. Tools and expert tips will be provided on the night to help you maximise each bird’s potential.
Although National Judge John Mulley won’t be attending due to judging commitments in two weekend’s time, his guidance lives on through the experienced hands of those present, ready to share tried-and-true techniques.
This workshop is especially valuable for intermediate and novice breeders looking to elevate their birds to selection standard. It’s also a great opportunity to connect with other exhibitors, gain confidence, and learn what selectors look for in the lead-up to the big event.
No need to RSVP—just bring your birds and your questions. Let NEBS help you prepare for success at the Logan Shield and beyond. Don’t miss it!
